COVID-19 has been a game-changer for many nations, including the United States. As the world recovers from the pandemic, here is a list of countries open to US citizens.


Countries open to US citizens

European Union

Firstly you should know that the European Union recommended that its 27 member states open their borders to US travelers. The 27 states include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. Some of the EU countries already opened their arms wide open to US travelers, including Croatia.

This country is a perfect tourist destination for lovers of natural spaces, towns with character, and islands with strong personalities. You will need a vaccination passport or a negative PCR test lasting no more than 48 hours to access Croatia. Additionally, Greece is among the countries open to US citizens. The famous destination for Greek-era lovers, mythology fans, and paradisiacal islands such as Mykonos or Santorini is waiting for you. To travel to Greece, you’ll need a negative PCR test that has not exceeded 72 hours or be fully vaccinated and wait 15 days after your second dose before traveling. 

Other European Countries

The first European country non-part of the EU but that welcomes US citizens is North Macedonia. Located in the center of the Balkans on the remains of the ancient Christian kingdoms and the great Ottoman period, North Macedonia has a prosperous and complex cultural heritage. British Virgin Islands are also among the countries open to US citizens. Known for their natural beauty, year-round trade winds, and world-famous beach bars, the British Virgin Islands is one of the best destinations to travel to for US citizens at the moment.

Aruba is also one of the countries open to US citizens. It is a Dutch island located in the Caribbean Sea, off the coast of Venezuela. Aruba has little tropical vegetation, lots of cacti, and white sand beaches that are downright crazy. To travel to Aruba, you must complete an online embarkation survey, a health assessment and have a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival or a vaccination passport. 

Other countries

Outside of Europe, there are numerous countries open to US citizens. Among these destinations, we find first and foremost Egypt. A country whose history and culture are in every textbook and which speaks to children. An encounter with the pharaohs, mythology, and the pyramids awaits you. All you will need is a vaccination passport or negative PCR test taken 72 hours before the flight.

Another incredible destination that US citizens can travel to is Kenya. This splendid country is home to the wild plains of the Masai Mara, the Indian Ocean, and the largest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, which measures 5892m. Kenya also has an impressive concentration of wild animals and a firm environmental protection policy. To enter the country’s territory, you will need a negative PCR test taken 96 hours before the flight or a vaccination passport.
